STEPPING out in a bright pink rhinestone suit, The Killers ludicrously handsome frontman, Brandon Flowers, was every inch the showman, writes Lara MacDonald.

Belting out an array of  classic hits, the  talented singer and proved that he still possessed that Mr Brightside charm.

As the Glasgow Summer Sessions drew to an end, The Killers ensured they set the Bellahouston stage alight with their unsurprisingly stellar performance of the incredible hits they have racked up over the past decade. Flowers even reflected on the band’s commendable success by asking the crowd: ‘Can you believe our baby’s over 10 years old now?’

The indie-rockers did not disappoint with their selection of classic, chart-topping hits including “Miss Atomic Bomb”, “When You Were Young” and “Smile Like You Mean It”. However, it was the unforgettable “Human” which generated the most excitement in the crowd. It featured twice throughout the night: first as a stripped-down version with Flowers going solo on the piano, before being resurrected towards the end of the show in a far more bombastic and rocker-friendly fashion.

Flowers ensured he had the Glasgow crowd in the palm of his hand from the very beginning of the night as he made reference to Scotland’s success in the Commonwealth Games, and even commented on the surprising lack of rain. Deciding to belt out a cover of Simple Minds’

“Don’t You Forget About Me” resulted in a spectacular response from the raucous crowd as they enthusiastically bellowed every word back at the stage.

It also wouldn’t have been a typical night out in Glasgow without a slight scuffle and credit is definitely due to Flowers who paused the show in order to diffuse a fight that was breaking out in the crowd. However, this certainly did not put a dampener on things but added a touch of humour to a very successful night.

Clearly saving the best for last, “Mr Brightside” created the greatest buzz throughout the entire arena. The band rocked out for one last time and it is safe to say that The Killers definitely ended the night on an incredible high.
