A sassy summer beckons at the Debenhams SS15 Press Show

ONE can’t help but feel like a Sex and the City girl at the bi-annual Debenhams press show.

Rails of crisp clothing, a lavish reception and delicious canapes are more than enough to whet your appetite before the fashion show even begins.
For the first time, the SS15 show was held to the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow, the perfect setting to showcase the abundance of new collections.
And, despite the miserable weather outside, it did nothing to dampen the spirits of the journalists and bloggers who flocked to try and nab a front row seat for the show.
Swimwear, jungle prints and swathes of khaki took guests on a journey of style via an urban safari at the runway event this year.
From utility-inspired shifts to casual summer jackets and standout patterned shirt dresses, the look to covet is far from a jungle; on the contrary, this is attention-grabbing at its best.

The evening wear range was, as always, traditionally glitzy. Sequins, form-fitting silhouettes and bold floral patterns made up the majority of collections from the likes of Jenny Packham, Julien Macdonald and Principles.

Taking inspiration from the London catwalks; collections featured one shoulder, prom and full length styles plus jewelled and floral applique detailing. Draped silken
fabrics, flamboyant tulle and pretty sheers elevated the collection for any glamorous occasion.

And luckily I managed to find a seat at the front row to take in all the details, including accessories, to discover the must-have items to covet when spring has sprung.
This year, take inspiration from urban safari inspired items and update your wardrobe with khaki and camelcoloured neutrals for a look that’s both laidback and sleek.
When it comes to accessories, it’s time to experiment with something a little more quirky such as a fruit-shaped clutch bag or super zesty jewellery.

But if you’re not a fan, you can always opt for bold florals which are the perfect way to inject some colour into your new season wardrobe.
Here are my picks of some of the favourite looks spotted at the show. It’s Scottish style at its best.
