That Seventies Show

IT’S time to put #ThrowbackThursday into action — as this season is all about retro revival.
Thanks to designers such as Tom Ford and Prada, whose S/S 2015 shows began with a whirlwind of flared trousers, seventies waistcoats and fur, it seems fashion has gone all nostalgic on us once again.
And let’s face it, seventies looks are something we often indulge in, making it the perfect comeback for spring.

This is also good news for women of the curvier category because, arguably, flares have always been the most flattering of trouser shapes.
When worn high-waisted and paired with heels, there’s no denying the magical effect these trousers have on helping to enlongate our legs while balancing out wider hips and thighs at the same time.
But if you’re still unsure, you can always try out the 70s glam rock look and opt for a maxi dress paired with fur and vertiginous platforms.

A few tips on pulling off this look is, whether it’s a maxi dress or flares, make sure the hem grazes the floor, so it might be best to try whatever item you choose to buy on with the shoes you plan on wearing it with.
If you do decide to opt for flares, pair them with a 70s-style pussybow blouse or a slick tunic for a silhouette that’s smart enough for work or play.
Take inspiration from the era’s biggest icons — Joni Mitchell, Jerry Hall and Stevie Nicks. Every one of them sported an individual ‘hippie’ vibe and became some of the decade’s most photographed women thanks to their stylish fashion looks.

Outfit, all Zara

Look to high street stores Miss Selfridge, Zara and Topshop for an abundance of retro-inspired looks that won’t break the bank. Here are some of the grooviest ones so far.
