The best winter facial cleansers for supermodel-worthy skin

By  |  0 Comments

EVER since I discovered oil-based cleansers, I have been devoted to the double cleanse method.
Perhaps the single most skin-improving treatment in my own regime has been using an oil or balm to remove makeup first before finishing off with an anti-bacterial face wash.
Not only are oil-based cleansers the most effective at removing even the most stubborn mascaras and foundations, they are highly moisturising and gentle on the skin.
With the winter air already starting to wreak havoc on our skin, it’s time to change up your cleanser.
Skincare expert and facialist Daiva Kamysova said: “Cold wind and rain during the winter months often wreaks havoc with our skin. The change in seasons are a great time to start using a richer cleanser, choosing milky consistency with peptides to prevent ageing and deeply hydrate skin.
“If you have oily skin or acne, look for a cleanser with hyaluronic acid to normalise oil production and to kill bacteria.
“If you have mature, dry or pigmented skin, look for a cleanser with lactic acid which works to brighten and hydrate skin for a dewy glow.”
Here’s my list of the best luxury cleansers to keep you skin looking fresh and dewy during the cold snap.

Time Bomb Peace & Quiet Coconut Cleansing Oil, £25

THIS concentrated formula smells amazing and feels lightweight and silky on the skin.
I gently massage this onto the skin and eyelashes and leave it for a minute before using a wash cloth to melt off makeup.
Not only does this smell of heavenly coconut, it contains a blend of delicate, skin-soothing oils, including Grape seed, Sunflower, Safflower plus botanical superstar Coconut Oil, known for antioxidant, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory powers.
The handy pump and pretty packaging makes this the ultimate luxury cleanser and it leaves skin feeling fresh, supple and baby soft after use.
This is perfect for quickly dissolving makeup after a heavy night on the tiles.

Pure Potions Omega Rich Cleansing Oil, £22

WINTER skin is much more likely to be sensitive, fragile and dehydrated and this gentle Omega oil cleanse nourishes and moisturises as it cleans.
As well as being great value for money, the smallest amount removes any traces of makeup without stripping the skin.
Based on the oil cleansing method and rich in skin-kind rosehip and calendula, the formula is 100% natural and has an exceptionally low comedogenic score, meaning it won’t clog pores and works even on oily skin.
The rosehip supports the skin’s cycle of repair and regeneration and the oil acts as an emollient, softening and hydrating chapped, sore or fragile skin.
The formula reminds me ever so slightly of castor oil and the scent is a bit overpowering but it does wonders for removing makeup.
This is ideal for sensitive skintypes which are prone to redness or breakouts.

France Prescott TRI-BALM, £46

Simply push up the solid-stick balm and pop all over the face to melt away makeup in an instant.
This luxurious three-in-one cleanser, moisturiser and exfoliator is the perfect skincare multi-tasker and ideal for popping in your toiletry bag.
The wax-like formula eradicates every last scrap of makeup and can be washed or tissued off to reveal plump-looking, moisturised skin.
Hyaluronic acid locks in moisture as antioxidants vitamin E and blackcurrant neutralise free radicals to protect.
Not only is this a cleanser, exfoliator and moisturiser in one, it’s can also be used as a fantastic intensive overnight masque.

Jane Scrivner Nourishing Cleanser, £33

THIS dreamy balm comes with a handy cleansing mitt and cleanses the skin without leaving tacky residue.
A little goes a long way and the balm contains organic jojoba oil – a hydrating, pro-collagen and pro-elastin oil, also rich in Essential Fatty Acids.
If you’re suffering from pesky pimples or blackheads, the decongestant organic beeswax works to attract dirt away from pores and a blend of nine essential oils – including sandalwood, ylang ylang and sweet orange – balances the skin.
Smooth this all over and polish off to reveal smooth, plump and radiant looking skin.
After using this I looked like I’d just stepped out of the beauty salon.
One of my absolute favourites for the winter months.
