Dreaming of a little black dress
IT is the timeless item that fashionistas always reach for come party season.
And the Little Black Dress is proving to be unbeatable once again after it was chosen as the perennial favourite for Christmas dressing.
According to fashion giant Debenhams, more LBD’s were sold on November 29 than on any other day of the year.
Analysts for the retailer found that, with less than a month to go before Christmas, this is the week that sales of that wardrobe must-have, the LBD, are at their highest — up 29 per cent on the average across the year, with sales peaking that day.
Celebrities seen embracing the trend recently include Anne Hathaway, Eva Longoria and Kate Moss in a latex version, while Kim Kardashian is only ever one dress change away from a little black dress.
Now, to celebrate the week when women splash out in preparation for the festive party season, Debenhams has created a LBD Guide to help make it easier to choose that perfect black frock.
Eve Robertson, senior PR manager for Debenhams, said: “Our team of personal shoppers across Scotland have been booked up well in advance — and the garment that the majority of clients have said they want help purchasing is that elusive little black dress.
“The perfect one will take you from a cocktail party to an opera, from a Michelin starred restaurant to a night club, without missing a beat.
“Adress that can do that is certainly worth the effort, but it is surprising how many women don’t know where to start when finding the perfect LBD to showcase their body type.
“After seeing so many ladies who told our personal shoppers they didn’t have a clue what to look for in a LBD, we decided to come up with our own comprehensive guide.”
The guide launched by Debenhams advises women of what type of LBD to choose this year, depending on their body type.
It contains helpful advice on the shape and length of a dress to suit each individual while providing a list of celebrity body types so at glance you’ll be able to decide which ‘category’ you fall under.
Eve added: “People should not under estimate the effect of the perfect LBD. Once a customer finds the right one it can be quite magical to see the transformation as they instantly have more confidence, walk taller and hold themselves with more poise.
“A dress that helps you look gorgeous on the outside can often have a fantastic effect in making people feel great inside as well.”
Debenhams personal shopping team offer a bespoke service to ensure the right shape and fit whatever your body type.
The service can be found in selected stores across Scotland and appointments can be booked online at www.debenhams.com.
