Salon review: Cut and Colour at Petra Glasgow

By  |  0 Comments

IT’S the salon visited by a slew of social media influencers who proudly post about the results of their silky, vibrant locks.
Petra in Glasgow’s city centre is a premium, full-service male and female hair salon, specialising in creative cutting and colouring.

The salon on Buchanan Street incorporates the likes of an express blow dry bar, make-up, lash and brow studio, plus luxury skin care services.
I was treated to a cut, colour and blow dry by Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards finalist Jordan Barrie, 24, who was transforming my slightly brassy balayage into a stunning brunette and copper colour melt.

Unusual for a salon to be open on a Monday, that’s when I chose to pay a visit there, when the vibe was relaxed, chilled and super friendly.
However, on weekends the modern salon transforms into a mini party spot, with DJs spinning out the decks and clients getting into party mode for the weekend.

A spokesman for Petra said: “We are an experience led salon. We want every visit to be a treat, an occasion and something
you look forward to. Petra becomes a staple in your social calendar, a gathering place for like-minded creatives and customers alike, a salon where you’ll have the most wonderful experience, and leave looking, and feeling, fabulous.
“Our stylists make us who we are. With a wealth of experience and creativity, we’ll find the stylist to suit you. We’re not a ‘one size fits all’ salon, we’re all about you.”

My stylist Jordan was chatty, professional and extremely knowledgeable about hair.
After my treatment I felt like I’d known him for years, and felt relaxed enough to bare my fears of having even an inch cut off my mane.
We had a mini consultation to discuss what I was looking for and I was treated to PLENTY of coffee and cakes during the entire process.

I eventually opted for a chocolate brunette with copper ends using Matrix colour and the results were seriously shiny, silky and head-turning locks.
After the colour was rinsed off, my tresses were blow-dried and then styled into gorgeous waves which cascaded down my shoulders, Jordan was even kind enough to talk me through using ghd’s to create the same look when I’m home getting ready myself.

The experience at Petra was warm, welcoming and chilled but I’m definitely hoping to pop back in one Saturday before a night on the tiles.
If you’re looking for a new place that will provide you with on-trend looks and a lively vibe, Petra is definitely worth visiting.
