Plush picks for a/w 2014
The sound of coughing and sniffling around the office provides enough evidence to confirm it’s officially winter.
But while I dread the bitter cold and horror of gruesome germs looming in the air, there is still something rather special about this time of year.
One of my favourite things about winter is, of course, the abundance of new clothing collections available on the high street. The emergence of glitter, plush velvets and resplendent evening dresses is enough to make any woman weep with joy.
Having already spent way too much of my wages on staple items for the new season, I’m now in search of some bargain buys that will last me through winter and beyond.
Some of the top items on my list include winter warmers such as a new coat and boats, knitwear and some cosy accessories.
It’s time to embrace the colder months but also inject some fun into our wardrobes by incorporating some of a/w hottest new trends.
One of my favourite looks right now includes the sixties siren trend, which sees one of the most defining eras in the history of fashion slip back into the spotlight.
Faux fur, A-line shapes and leather are just some of the inspired looks which will help you nail that rock ‘n’ roll vibe.
Invest in knee high boots, a mod dress and cosy fur jacket for an everyday outfit which is practical at the same time.
When it comes to evening wear, gothic glamour is back once again with lashings of leather, lace and even feathers taking centre stage.
As always when it comes to impending Christmas parties, sequins and floor-length numbers are once again A Rather Big Deal.
However if you’re shy when it comes to dresses, pair a pair of shiny jeans with black or metallic items for a seductive look which oozes attitude.
Another investment piece this year should be the leather skirt, which can be dressed up or down for any occasion.
It’s also a chic staple which you’ll end up reaching for time and time again. Go for a mid-length number in shades of tan or black to keep it classy.
