REVIEW: I tried Italian restaurant chain Prezzo’s new Christmas menu – here’s what I thought…

If Christmas dining has a spectrum, Prezzo Italian’s new festive menu sits squarely at the “loud, joyful, plates-clattering, pass-the-Prosecco” end of things.
Having just newly launched, the latest line-up from the restaurant chain is a celebration of Italian comfort with just the right amount of twinkle.
I headed along to sample the new dishes at Glasgow’s Prezzo in Braehead Shopping Centre with our six month old after a day of shopping, and my partner and I weren’t disappointed.
The first dish we were eager to try was the delectable brie and cranberry garlic bread – and honestly, if Prezzo sold this year-round, I’d be first in the queue.
It’s everything you want from December on a plate – warm bread, molten brie and a festive pop of cranberry ketchup that manages to be sweet without cloying. My first thought was that it was the perfect main accompaniment to a pasta dish, and it absolutely sets the tone for the rest of the meal.
Prezzo’s new Christmas mains are also bold – none more so than the comforting Christmas calzone, stuffed with turkey, brie, mozzarella, stuffing and a zingy cranberry ketchup.

Not only was the dish tasty, fun, and wonderfully over the top, but each bite feels like you’ve been invited to a particularly stylish Italian family Christmas where Nonna has decided to embrace British traditions with gusto.
The Christmas carbonara also deserves a nod for being comfort food at its absolute peak, and the Christmas pizza earns points not just for flavour but for its partnership with The Trussell Trust – a lovely touch of seasonal goodwill.

For those who are veggie, the menu also offers delights such as oven baked creamy mushrooms, bubbling in a rich cacio e pepe sauce, and hot honey glazed mozzarella sticks with marinara and basil pesto.
And for sharing, the brie, mozzarella and cranberry dough bites are the ultimate festive treat – soft, cheesy, and finished with a sweet cranberry twist. However, no meal wouldn’t be complete without honey glazed pigs in blankets and roasted sprouts with pancetta and parmesan.
Meanwhile, when it came to dessert, the new Christmas hot chocolate fudge cake is pure molten joy, as are the Nutella dipped donuts.
Prezzo’s Christmas menu strikes that sweet spot between comforting and exciting. It’s familiar enough to feel cosy, but playful enough to make it special. Altogether, it’s a menu that makes festive dining feel effortless and genuinely enjoyable.
